About Wayfarer Boatworks

Owner and founder of Wayfarer Boatworks, Tim Bellard, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts. As a child, his father taught him how to work with many different materials/fasteners and the process of marrying them two together. As a result, he has been on a lifelong quest to learn as many different mediums as possible to bring his ideas to life.

Wayfarer Boatworks can provide you with full-scale boat kits and/or model kits, and the knowledge of how to build them. We have a CNC router that cuts all of the parts to extremely high tolerances to aid in the building process.

Lastly, we offer classes and workshops in any build/restoration you are currently in, or we can help you start from scratch. We also offer workshop space for you to build in our shop.

Owner of Wayfarer Boatworks

My love for the water and fishing has been the segway for me into boat building and restoration. I have done complete restorations on fiberglass and wood boats and scratch built boats for over 40 years. In 2020 I found ice boating in the Michigan area. Since this encounter, I have met many very talented boat builders across various disciplines.

I am an artist, boatbuilder, teacher, and engineer that finds a freedom that words can’t describe when I am making with my hands. I want to share my knowledge and skill with others in whatever medium they are compelled to work in, hoping they can find the same freedom and joy in their own process of making cool boats!
